COAL PROERTIES AND GAS & MINERAL RIGHTS
This property has passed to 3 generations. The late, John Henry Stinson, in the late 1800's purchased gas & mineral rights and coal properties in the early years of discovering coal in Buchanan County. Stinson was instrumental in bringing the RR to Grundy which was the key to getting the coal industry booming in Buchanan and the surrounding counties. Through the years, Appachian Eng - GNX Gas - Jewel Smokeless - Range Resources - Appalachian Services and others have leased and mined coal, gas and minerals on these properties. Though much of the coal mining has been depleted or has become difficult to mine, there is hope that future developments will come from the gas and minerals that remain.
